According to sources, the parents of Humza Yousaf’s wife, Nadia El Nakla, were in Gaza visiting family when Hamas launched a surprise onslaught on Israel over the weekend, killing hundreds.
Mr Yousaf told media on Monday, “As many know, my wife is Palestinian.” Her mother and father, who live in Dundee, Scotland, have been in Gaza and are currently stranded there, I’m afraid.”
The stranded pair had gone to see Mr Yousaf’s father-in-law’s 93-year-old mother when the Hamas attack occurred.
Israeli authorities have since advised them to leave because “Gaza will effectively be obliterated,” according to the first minister.
Since Saturday, more than 700 people have been slain in Israel, including 260 people massacred by Hamas terrorists at a music event.
